Artist Statement

I am a tutor and practitioner within the wonderful world of printmaking. I use a variety and combination of techniques, as for me, the process is a means to an outcome.

I take an experimental approach to print and usually have several lines of enquiry in progress at one time. My work seems to be about colour and pattern and how they can together create movement on the page.

I am always looking to create that initial moment of surprise mixed with recognition by the viewer. I hope you enjoy looking at my prints as much as I enjoy making them.

My print runs are small, limited to a maximum of 20 pulls and sometimes variable within an edition.

I have divided my work on the website into three main categories-Mixed media collages with printed papers, screen prints and Lino and collagraph prints.

Workshops and Demonstrations

I currently teach printmaking sessions at Courtyard Arts in Hertford and deliver workshops and demonstrations to local art groups on a number of different printing techniques, mono drawing and printing and lino cut, which can be delivered in a community centre or village hall as these techniques do not necessarily require a press.

Dry point and Collagraph printmaking do require a press so workshops are available at Courtyard Arts in Hertford.

Talk and demonstration on printing without a press.

Mono printing.

I bring all materials and equipment to these sessions which are suitable for all ages and abilities. Printing can produce exciting results and an ability to draw is not essential.
